It is a tradition that during the autumn season, in the autumn break, we treat the inhabitants of our zoo with typical “Halloween” pumpkins.
The pumpkins were carved by the guests of our zoo hotels, and then our co-workers filled them with delicacies that are the favorite foods of their animals. Thus, the meerkats received flour worms, the otters fish, while the big cats got meat, but the several tonnes Asian elephant ladies, for example, got the delicacy whole.
In bright weather, there were plenty of curious people for the sight feeding. During the trip, the people working here also talked about the life behind the scenes and it became clear what is called environmental enrichment - as “pumping” is not only fun, but also an excellent opportunity to make our animal days richer.
